Spirit Borne
Spirit Borne is the performing arts expression of Youth for Christ. We are a musical theatre team that thrives to promote excellence in the performing arts by providing top quality training and performance experiences. Team members learn how to work together both on stage and off. We challenge our team members and our audiences to explore the deeper issues about life that impact our personal integrity and our moral decisions.
Our Season
Our season runs from September to March. In that time we tour local area churches and schools. During March break we take our show on tour. We have travelled to destinations including: Quebec, the Maritimes, Vermont, Michigan, Indiana, and Florida.
Rehearsals
The team rehearses every Monday night from 6:45 - 9:30 starting in September. Rehearsals are currently held at Quinte Alliance Church. A detailed schedule is available upon request. Our rehearsals include issues-based peer discusson groups, prayer, music, drama, and dance instruction.
Our Staff
Our staff includes our director and approximately 20 adult volunteers who fulfil technical, musical, and leadership training roles.
Our Members
The 2006/07 edition of the team included 64 performers and an army of committed adult volunteers and one full time staff member (Ian Ardill). A wide variety of area churches are represented on the team.
Financial Commitment
Parents are required to pay a tuition fee at registration. It is comparable to what you might expect to pay for music lessons for your child. Fees cover things such as training, costumes, retreats and tour expenses.
