QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Do you have some question about the PAD?  If your question is not answered below,
than you can email us at info@qyfc.com and we will get the answer to you.

What kind of supervision will the PAD have?  We are estimating a 10:1 ratio of students to staff.  Our staff are all volunteers and are screened through our registration process which includes references and police background check).  Because there is such a high number of potential students, it is possible that this number will vary.  Certainly, if you are a parent that can help us out for the day, we would love to have the extra help.  Click on the Volunteer page to learn about joining our team.

Who are the sponsors this event?  The major sponsorship for the PAD is Quinte YFC / Youth Unlimited (as far as legal liability and overseeing volunteers).  Their work is again in partnership with the Quinte Area Youth Network (QAYN) who represent many local area churches (including Alliance, Free Methodist, Baptist, Anglican, Pentecostal, Wesleyan, Presbyterian, Bretheran, non-denominational churches and others).

What are QYFC and the QAYN?  Quinte YFC / Youth Unlimited is an outreach organization which focuses specifically on working with youth.  Our purpose is to challenge youth to live a balanced lifestyle (physically, emotionally, intellectually and spiritually) and to encourage them to be part of their local faith community.  Quinte YFC / Youth Unlimited works specifically with the Quinte Area Youth Network (which is multi denominational).  It consists of a large number of church youth ministers and volunteers who work together to present the good news of Jesus Christ to Youth in a clear and relevant way.

Are food and snacks provided?  We encouage students to bring a lunch and snacks. Pizza and pop is available for $5 per person. We are commited to provide a real partnership with parents that will take care of their children in every way on PA days.

Is the PAD an allergy free zone?  Yes and No.  We will ensure that the are no peanut or nuts available for children but we cannot gaurantee that your child will not be allergic to another childs choice of deoderant.  For any other allergy conditions, please make a special note when you register your child.

Are students allowed freedom to leave the PAD during the day?  No.  Since your children are under our supervision for the day so we need to protect them as you would.  We also have restricted staffing access to the PAD location so no unauthorized adults will be able to attend the event.  Be sure that your children will be cared for suffienciently so that there will be no need to leave.

Can I drop off / pick up my child at a different time?  Upon special request we can make arrangements to have staff come or stay a few minutes earlier or later for your convenience.  Registration starts at 8am but we are flexible.  Please make a special note of this on your registration or contact our leadership team.

Can I bring my younger / older children to the PAD?  This event is exclusively for junior high students (grades 6-8) and as a resource for their families.  If you have other children who need care on a PA Day, please contact the YMCA at (613) 962-9245 which runs program for children aged 5-12 for a cost between $20-25.
